The first and best Monster Magazine was named Famous Monsters Of the Filmland. It was published for decades by James Warren and edited by Forrest J. Ackerman from 1958 to 1983. With Warren as publisher the magazine eventually produced 191 issues, all with Ackerman as the editor. It was revived in several forms in the years following and is still being published annually although without the success of its earlier years.
